Brazilian community to revive archdiocese

September 27, 2012 | Cardinal Wim Eijk of our archdiocese has invited members of the  Brazilian religious community Shalom to settle in Renkum, near Wageningen University. The South American religious, who are between 26 and 36 years old, are expected to do pastoral work for students at Wageningen University and bring a revival to the local Catholic community, starting in October 2012.

With this move the Cardinal makes almost  all three universities at the archdiocese to enjoy the presence of a community of religious with a focus on student chaplaincy. Originally the Cardinal had asked the community to settle in Enschede, which is after Utrecht the biggest city of the archdiocese. Organisational obstacles prevented these plans to come to realization.
